Years before there was a Village at Greenway and before there was a Scenic Land School, this area of rolling hills, gorgeous wooded acreage, and deep green meadows, with a creek flowing through it, was home to cattle and horses, owned by family farmers like the Andersons, Beans, Longs (and the list goes on). Today, gone are the farms and livestock and gone is Scenic Land School that was once near this sight and helped children with learning difficulties. In 2006 approximately 40 acres was sold to two developers. Twenty-three of those acres is now home to Village at Greenway. The farms and school may be gone, but still here is the vibrant charm of another time, and the feel of living in the rural countryside of a small community. Still here are the beautiful trees, beautiful manicured lawns, elegant flower beds with a pond and wildlife. All this yet only minutes away from downtown Chattanooga.
The Village at Greenway Condominium was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in August 2006 and consist of 76 condos, housed in 23 buildings, a pool, and a Clubhouse which has a main hall, a fully functional kitchen, fitness room, and library. The last building phase was completed in the winter of 2014, with ongoing capital projects done yearly to ensure our property is well maintained. The “Village” has an active Condo Owners Association (COA), which is guided by our Master Deed, By-laws, and a duly elected board of directors where each owner is a member of the COA.
Once here, you have unfettered access to numerous events and activities. The COA has quarterly meetings, and sometimes residents volunteer for committee work. We have seasonal pot luck dinners where all owners are invited and we celebrate different holidays throughout the year. There is a weekly non-denominational Bible study on Tuesdays at the clubhouse, where everyone is welcomed. During the summer months we have had water aerobics and in the past, during the cold months, we have also had a yoga class as well. Cards are played throughout the week, especially on Thursdays and Saturdays and if you just want to come down to the clubhouse and put a puzzle together, you can do that too…or just take it home and put together. We have a library committee who helps keeps our library in good shape, and over the years we have had other committees, such as the social and welcoming committee. For the Thespian, we have a small community playhouse where we do a spring and winter play. So… if you want to be with a group and play cards or just relax with a good book or go swimming there are plenty of things a person can do.
Village at Greenway Condominium has a great history of neighbors developing fantastic and long lasting friendships with other neighbors and working together in building a solid community. We are a rural countryside neighborhood within a walkable relaxed community, yet only minutes from parks, restaurants, and downtown Chattanooga. The Village at Greenway is truly a remarkable place to live, work, and play!
